True to form, the boys were full of energy but took some time to settle into their first game and allowed a strong Hastings squad to get the edge on them and take an early lead. This was enough to get the boys to dig in and settle into the solid form they have been showing us in training. Heading to the final whistle 4 -3 in front a last-minute line dash levelled the score at 4-4. A good lesson learnt to always play to the referee’s whistle…
Due to a last-minute cancellation by Lewes it meant the boys were straight back in action for back-to-back games. The squad re-grouped and came out firing on all cylinders from the start getting ahead with some excellent work around the break down giving the speedsters the opportunity to stretch their legs and test the Haywards Heath defence. Once in front, they never looked like giving up the lead and showed real grit to keep ahead to the final whistle.

After a well-earned break and the promise of Haribo from the coach the boys were more than ready for their final game against Chichester. The boys once again settled in quickly and put up a solid defensive effort to neutralise the big ball carrying through the middle that Chichester had clearly planned on using. Each boy dug in and gave it 100% in what was probably some of the best rugby we have seen them play this season giving them a second hard fought, and well-earned win for the day!

They left Eastbourne undefeated and smiling despite the three hard games that made frequent use of the newly refreshed first aid kit… The squad have really gelled this season and are embracing the game growing together with each game they play. They are chomping at the bit for the next game…
