Hello everyone - .
My beloved husband, rugby pal and best friend Pat Ward-Lee passed away on Christmas Day.
As you know, he was a strong, wonderful man - a great dad and grandpa, a super husband, gifted rugby player...definitely a multi-faceted diamond!
Pat joined Brighton Football Club (RFU) at the age of 16 and was honoured to be our President from 1983-1995, during the difficult transition period from the Club's HQ at Horsdean to our present fantastic premises.
He was so proud of our achievements...on and off the pitch. He had a marvellous time at the recent 200 Club Dinner and was thrilled by the brilliant game against Rochford 100 on 14th December. His greatest pleasure was to see so many youngsters enjoying our Club, learning our sport, and having so much fun.
Many thanks to all those who have sent emails and phoned to share their thoughts about Pat. I have been moved and uplifted by your kindness and eloquence.
A service of Thanksgiving for Pat's life will be held at 1.30pm on Friday 17th January, at St John's Church, Canon's Hill, Old Coulsdon CR5 1HB ,followed by drinks and snacks at The Grange, next door to
the Church.
Family flowers only, but his charity is the Wooden Spoon Rugby Charity, Sussex Branch, which helps physically, mentally and socially disadvantaged children in Sussex, the home of Brighton Blues.
Donations can be made c/o our dear friend, Mrs Ann Holt, an Honorary Life Member of our Club, and Treasurer for Sussex, 46 Delves Way, Ringmer, BN8 5JU (01273 812929 m: 07802 839286)
Just one request to those who are able to attend: .lots of hugs please for myself, Tom, Ali and Sebastian. We miss our Patrick - and his hugs - very, very much...
Thank you for giving Pat so many hours of inspiring rugby, fun, friendship and laughter.
Happy New Year from the Ward-Lee family...to you, your own family...and, of course, the great Rugby family.
Sally xxxx
