Blues challenge for long periods but come up short A difficult last 20

Blues went into the game vs title chasing Dorking with a much changed side with injuries to all but 3 of the first choice starting XV.

However this is a squad with character, friendship and resolve and for long periods of the first half the Blues matched title chasing Dorking toe to toe.

The 48 attendees at the Volunteers Lunch, that the Club had put on to support everyone that contributes their time to the Blues we’re watching 2 teams going for it.

The weather was throwing in rain and sun in equal measure and the watching crowd were treated to a massive rainbow falling on either side of the pitch.

On the stroke of half time Jordon Whythe suffered a neck injury that stopped the game for 40 minutes and the second half was moved to the 2nd Team pitch. The good news is there is no serious injury following checks on hospital. We all wish Jordon well.

With this injury and some more enforced positional juggling it was a hard pill to swallow when replacement scrum half Joe Hoare was shown a straight red for what appeared to be a minor infringement at the breakdown.

Playing with 14 men the Blues defence started to creak and Dorking showed their power and class by ramping up the pressure and points.

At the end of the day this is a young side learning it’s trade and everyone is part of the team and enjoying working and playing hard for their mates. The tough nature if this season will show its rewards in 2022. Remember - we have more points now than we’ve done for the 2 seasons before :-)
