I would like to welcome everyone today to Waterhall for derby day, it’s our 155th season and we
continue our home league campaign against our oldest neighbours CS Stags. After 155 years we are
still able to deliver Community Rugby across Brighton to a high standard from U6 through to Vets.
Mixed bag so far Brighton, but we have some positives to take out of our season so far in which we
have played 3 of the top 5 away from home, and have 7 try scoring bonus points which is the second
best in the league. Whilst London Welsh appeared to be a thrashing, the game was in the balance
until the 68th minute in which we then conceded 19 points. The improvement in performance was
incredible, and we hope that the back to basics pays off today.
Today we play CS Stags who like us were formed prior to the RFU and are in their 160 th season. This
probably is one of the oldest fixtures in our great game. Over the years we have enjoyed some great
tussles, and with our respective league position no doubt it will be the same today. Stags have won
2 more games and sit 5 points above us.
Our new kit was unveiled last week at London Welsh, and many thanks to CBG Construction who
have helped with sponsorship, they are on the front of the shirts.
CBG is an experienced regional contractor delivering new build, design and build and refurbishment
solutions to both the public and private sector throughout London and the South-East. Formed in
2014 by Managing Director Matthew Kavanagh-Clarke, CBG has built a reputation for delivering
high quality, professional construction projects, with a repeat business rate of over 80%. They
specialise in education, commercial, healthcare, super-prime residential and cladding remediation
projects across which they have developed an extensive portfolio of successfully delivered projects.
Their head office is based in Lancing, West Sussex with a second office in London Bridge.
Good luck to both sides and have a great match.

Mark Gibb
