With a number of last minute re-shuffles this fixture could have done either way with 3 x unavailabilities the day before the fixture and a number of players swapping in for injured players in the A. However, every player stepped up to the plate and the Blues ran out comfortable winners on a cold, but clear Winter's day.
Brightons first try came after some strong forwards pressure, with a maul taking the ball over the line. The centres were also finding yards and almost cut through on a number of occasions with a decent score 20 minutes in. Frankie, volunteering to take the re-starts and the conversions, from the unfamiliar role of tight head prop, did well with both kicks narrowly missing. Half Time - 0 - 10 to Brighton.
Midhurst came back with a spell of continued pressure in the first 10 minutes of the second half and eventually forced a try through their 10 who grounded under the posts, converting to make the score 7 - 10.
However, Brighton hit back hard and started to dominate the break down area that had been scrappy all day. The back row worked tirelessly and eventually large holes started to appear in the final 10 minutes. The back line worked well with the forwards and some good continuity and linkage saw a further three tries in quick succession taken by the Blues. Frankie was on target for these three and slotted three conversions.
Final score 7 - 31.
