Away fixture at Guernsey for the Brighton Boys One Club - Enjoy the Journey

On Saturday 26 adults and boys met at Gatwick for the short hop to the channel islands. After a false start with a couple of passport issues we where our way.

On arrival the rain was falling hard, we boarded our coach to head to the ground where we where met by sunshine and a very nice representative from Guernsey RFC.

The stadium and pitch looked really nice and we where lead to the changing rooms.

The match officials where professional officials from Hampshire had mikes and head sets on making this feel a very special occasion.

The game kicked off and it was obvious that they where a very strong team and our boys battled valiantly. Unfortunately we only had 1 sub and we had 2 injuries meaning we went down to 11 boys. Guernsey had a full squad and where able to bring on fresh legs regularly.

The score line does not reflect how well the team played to the last minute of the game, they never gave up to the point they where pressing the try line when time was up and Guernsey managed a turn over and kicked to touch to relieve the final pressure.

The hospitality continued and we where all fed and then settled to watch the afternoon 1st XV match before boarding our coach and ultimately our plane returning to Gatwick.
