It is with great sorrow that I must inform you that Malcolm Holt passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Sunday 22nd November.

Malcolm was a great club stalwart, a lover of the game and of the club for which he played for many years.

Having proudly made his international debut in Bahrain, Malcolm came back to the UK and was introduced to Brighton by former President, Dennis Nolan. He immediately slotted straight into the First XV at second row, a position which he was to make his own. His involvement with Brighton, in many guises, has spanned more than thirty five years, as player and ultimately President. During this time he famously set up and captained the highly successful Veterans side of the mid-eighties.

In recognition of his long term dedication to the club, he was made a life member in 2013, an honour reserved for the very few.

Outside of rugby, Malcolm was initially an accountant in London before going into partnership with Tony DaVall for many years, after which he set up and ran Cabot Aviation.

Malcolm was a pillar of the club and his influence and presence will be sadly missed by all of us.

The funeral is to be held next week and the arrangements will be circulated once known.

Steve Russell
President
Brighton Football Club (RFU)
